Newsflash

Lisa's lunch does indeed detail my lunches... but it also has a wealth of information about other meals, recipes, clothing, and stuff that the modern internet-enabled woman needs to know about.

I was kidnapped and taken to Indio for The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival... no chance of writing regular reviews this week, I've been slammed with the best concert series in existence. My ears are still ringing, a full review shall follow.

For the moment, rest assured that I have a whole new appreciation of music, which was the intent of my escort. I went for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I left with a love of Busdriver, Peaches, and the mighty VNV Nation, among many others. Next time your SO invites you to a summit of the newest of new music, don't even hesitate: this was the show of a lifetime, something I never imagined and doubt I'll ever see again.

If any of you were there, please email me with your impressions! I'm dying to know how I missed this thing in the past. Spare me the newbie comments, though, I admit I was reluctant at first but I went.... so there!

Stay tuned...

99 Problems PDF Print E-mail

Well, not really 99, actually 67. And, uh, not problems, but emails. Here's the breakdown:

34 legitimate inquiries, mostly about the Zappo's outlet... more on that coming soon, I've responded to a few of you but can't always keep up. Also a lot of requests to allow posts from registered users; for now I'm going to keep things as is so I don't have to police the site all the time.

4 weirdos... no thanks!

11 requests for more info about me personally. While I'm not running this site to dish about my personal stuff, I've been convinced to share an image. If it garners a lot of weirdness I'll just remove it (gentlemen, try myspace for shallow hookups, I'm just not the type).

15 spam... again, no thanks.

And finally, a measly 3 emails that just said that they liked the site and the articles. The log chart says over a thousand unique visitors have been here since it started... so thanks, even if you don't have a moment to thank me! :)

Coming next week: two new restaurant reviews and some interior shots of the Zappo's outlet. I have the pics, but I always have problems getting them off the camera and uploaded.

New Zappos Outlet in Vegas! PDF Print E-mail

Zappos just opened an outlet in Las Vegas! According to a staff member, it stocks more than 20,000 pairs of shoes. You can find it just north of the Silverton Casino, in the Safari Business Park, 7770 S. Dean Martin Drive. This is where all the Zappos.com closeouts and returns are unloaded to the public at prices so low they're not sellable from the Zappos website. The sign is now visible from the I-15 driving into Vegas.

There are some markdowns for shoes that were scuffed before being returned that are at 90% off of retail. Last time I went the lines weren't bad, but there were a LOT of people there shopping. Of course, if a trip to Vegas isn't in your near future (too bad!) you can still get some great deals at the regular online store: Zappos.com Women's Shoes

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby and then another.

Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and after that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire.

The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now.

If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.

Banana Crisp Update-- Labeling Scandal! PDF Print E-mail

Important update on Trader Joe's Banana Crisps: The label on the original crisps stated 40 calories per serving and 1 gram of fat.  The current run, which appears to be the exact same product is labeled with **150** calories and a lot more fat.  No wonder my 1200 calorie diet wasn't successful!!  What I thought was a 240 calorie snack was in actuality 900 calories of fat-laden junk!

What bothers me the most is that Trader Joe's didn't ever put up a little sign of apology next to the revised bags.  After the change, I was thrilled to find a shelf full of crisps and immediately bought 10 bags, only to come home and realize that they weren't my same beloved crisps!

I'm returning the bags I bought, and possibly the bag I already opened as well.  Yell

The J Crew outlet at Primm looked like it was rocking... until it closed.  Recently, a new sign at the Primm outlet stores has announced that J Crew is returning, but not when.  Mystery solved, I received this email a few days ago:
